2010 T20 World Cup : Super Eight Groups





The group stages matches of T20 world cup will be completed today. There are only two matches remaining: SA x AF and AUS x BAN. The result of these matches are almost predictable. Ausies are in good form so it is difficult for Bangladesh to stop them. Even if Aussies loss they will enter super eights as they won the first match aganist Pakistan in a good margin.

In super eights there are two groups; Group E and Group F. Pakistan, Newzealand, South Africa and England will play in Group E and other teams like India, Australia, Sri Lanka and West Indies will play in Group F.

All the teams except Sri Lanka in Group F are in good form. So it will be tough challege for every teams. But in Group E only New Zealand had come to super eights without loosing any match. Eventhough England performed well in both the matches rain changed their luck.

Super eights will start on May 6th and two teams each from a group will go in to semies. The first match in super eight will be between England and Pakistan and second will be between South Africa and New Zealand, both matches will be on May 6th. Semi finals will start from May 13 onwards.

All the super eight matches will be played at two venues;Bridgetown, Barbados and Gros Islet, St Lucia. Both Semi finals will be played at Gros Islet, St Lucia and finals will be at Bridgetown, Barbados. FInals will be on May 16th.

T20 World Cup:Jayawardene's Century helped Sri Lanka to reach 173/7 against Zimbabwe


A brilliant century from former Sri Lankan captain Jayawardene helped Sri Lanka to score 173/7 in 20 overs aganist Zimbabwe. This is the second century in two days;yesterday Suresh Raina scored 101(61b) against South Africa. Jayawardene finished 100 runs in 64 balls including 10 fours and 4 sixes. This is the first century by a Sri Lankan in T20 internationals.


Except Jayawardene no one played well;the second best was 23 runs from 19 balls by T Perera. Zimbabwe's Ray Price and Gregory Lamb picked 2 wickets each and finished 31/2 and 34/2 respectively in their four overs. Elton Chigumbura, Prosper Utseya and Graeme Cremer took one wickets each.
