T20 World Cup 2010:India have to Play Aganist Australia and West Indies in Super Eights

After the victory aganist SA in their group stage last T20 match, India became the first team to enter super eights. India reached super eights as group champions. According to the situation up to 3rd May India will have to play against West Indies and Australia in super eights. The third team will be known after todays match between Srilanka and Zimbawae. If Zimbawae beat Srilanka India has to play against New Zealand in super eights, else against Srilanka with the case that New Zealand beat Zimbawae.

If West Indies doesn't qualify from super eights India have to play against England in super eights. Also if Australia doesn't qualify for the super eights, India has to play against Bangladeesh in super eights. But both of things have low propability of happen.

In this World Cup, the super eights are decided based on seeding. The super eight group is based on following criteria: if two teams from a group, for example Pakistan and Australia from group A qualifies for the super eights, Pakistan will go to Group E and Australia will go to group F even if Australia will be the group champions. This is because Pakistan has got good seeding than Australia.

The A1, B2, C1, D2 will be group E and A2, B1, C2, D1 will be group F based on seeding of the qualified teams.


According to the match up to this point the expected groups will be like this:


Group E: Pakistan, South Africa, England

Group F: Australia, India, West Indies


The fourth team will be decided based on todays play between Srilanka and Zimbawae. If Zimbawae beat Srilanka, Zimbawae goes to group E, else Srilanka will go to Group F with the fact that New Zealand has to beat Zimbawae.
